Terms of Service

Effective date: March 24, 2026 · Last updated: March 24, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Policy Stack ("Service"), operated by Policy Stack ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Policy Stack is a software platform that helps individuals and financial professionals track whole life insurance policies, model scenarios, and visualize their financial position. The Service is a tracking and organizational tool only.

2. Not Financial Advice

Policy Stack is not a registered investment advisor, broker-dealer, insurance agency, financial planner, or tax professional. Nothing on this platform — including data displays, AI outputs, scenario models, calculators, or any other feature — constitutes financial, investment, insurance, legal, or tax advice.

What Policy Stack Does

Policy Stack helps you organize, track, and visualize information related to your whole life insurance policies and financial position. The platform:

  • Records policy values, loan balances, and capital deployments that you enter
  • Models scenarios based on assumptions you provide
  • Displays your financial position as of dates you specify
  • Answers questions about your data and general whole life banking concepts

All modeled outputs are illustrative, based on your stated assumptions, and labeled accordingly (Actual, Projected, Modeled, or Planned). They should not be relied upon as predictions of future performance.

What Policy Stack Does Not Do

Policy Stack does not:

  • Recommend whether you should purchase, modify, or surrender any insurance policy
  • Advise on the suitability of whole life insurance or any financial product for your situation
  • Provide guidance on tax treatment of policy loans, withdrawals, or death benefits
  • Recommend investment strategies, asset allocation, or capital deployment decisions
  • Verify the accuracy of values reported by your insurance carrier

Consult a Qualified Professional

Decisions involving whole life insurance, policy loans, capital deployment, tax planning, or estate strategy should be made in consultation with a licensed insurance professional, CFP, RIA, CPA, or attorney. Policy Stack is designed to support those conversations — not replace them.

No Warranty on Data Accuracy

The accuracy of your Policy Stack data depends entirely on the accuracy of what you enter. We do not receive data directly from insurance carriers. Always verify your financial position with your carrier directly.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering into a binding agreement. The Service is intended for use in the United States.

4. Accounts

4.1 Registration

You must provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating an account and keep it up to date.

4.2 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at support@policystack.co if you suspect unauthorized access.

4.3 One Account Per Person

Each individual may maintain one account. You may not create accounts on behalf of others without their knowledge and consent.

5. Subscription Plans and Billing

5.1 Plans

Policy Stack offers free and paid plans for consumers (Starter, Builder Pro) and advisors (Practice Solo, Practice 10, Practice 25, Practice 50). Consumer Builder Pro is $25/mo or $18/mo billed annually with a 14-day free trial. Consumers referred by a financial professional receive a 30-day free trial. Advisor plans include a 30-day free trial with 3 complimentary client seats (Practice 10 and above). A credit card is required for all trials. Current pricing is at policystack.co/pricing.

5.2 Billing

Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis via Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges until cancellation.

5.3 Cancellation

You may cancel at any time through account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

5.4 Refunds

Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.

5.5 Price Changes

We will provide at least 30 days' notice before any price change takes effect. Continued use after the notice period constitutes acceptance.

5.6 Taxes

You are responsible for all applicable taxes. Displayed prices exclude taxes unless stated otherwise.

5.7 Advisor Seat Packs

Advisor plans (Practice 10, Practice 25, Practice 50) include client seats that grant Builder Pro access to the advisor's clients at no cost to the client. Advisors control seat assignment, duration, and revocation from their practice dashboard.

  • Each seat has a configurable expiration date (default duration set by the advisor, with per-client overrides available)
  • When a seat expires or is revoked, the client may choose to self-pay for Builder Pro or drops to the free Starter plan
  • Expired or revoked seats return to the advisor's pool for reassignment
  • Connected vs. Seated: Connections and seats are two independent relationship types. Seating a client automatically creates a data-sharing connection, but connecting does not consume a seat. A consumer can disconnect from an advisor at any time.
  • When seated, the advisor receives read-only access to the client's data

5.8 Overflow and Team Seats

  • Overflow seats:Practice 10, Practice 25, and Practice 50 advisors may add overflow client seats at $15/seat/month beyond the tier's included count. Overflow seats are billed as a metered add-on.
  • Team seats:All advisor tiers may purchase team seats at $5/month each. Team members receive portal-only access to the advisor's practice dashboard and cannot access Builder Pro consumer features. Practice 50 includes 2 free team seats.

5.9 Self-Pay and Seat Overlap

When a self-paying consumer is seated by an advisor, the consumer's active subscription is automatically canceled with a prorated refund for the unused portion of the billing period. The consumer retains Builder Pro access through the advisor's seat.

If the consumer later loses seat access (expiration, revocation, or advisor cancellation), they receive the ADVISOR_TRANSITION coupon: 20% off annual Builder Pro, one-time use.

5.10 Referral Credits

When a connected client upgrades to a self-pay Builder Pro subscription, the referring advisor receives a one-time $25 invoice credit. Credits are limited to one per unique consumer and are available only to advisors with an active Practice subscription. Referral credits are non-transferable and expire if the advisor's account is canceled.

6. Acceptable Use

6.1 General Standard

Use the Service only for its intended purpose and in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards.
